A biased pro ManU commentary on ESPN, and poor refereeing summed up the disappointing game for Arsenal.
Arsenal dominated for an hour, their new 4-3-3 system and heightened pressing game constantly troubling the champions. Admittedly helped by United's alarming failure to retain possession, Arsenal saw good performances in all departments.
William Gallas and Thomas Vermaelen form a strong defensive unit.Alex Song matures promisingly in the centre while Abou Diaby roamed from box to box, parading his potential.
That little Russian with the big talent, Andrei Arshavin, always makes something happen in possession, whether a clever pass, a run at a startled defender or an attempt on goal. Denied a penalty so clear it should have counted double, Arshavin quickly recovered from Fletcher's flagrant foul to score with a powerful shot.
Arshavin then made a chance for Robin van Persie that brought an unbelievable stop from Ben Foster. The best compliment that can be paid to United's keeper is that it was the type of save, stretching out a foot in a form of star jump, that Peter Schmeichel was famous for.
Reprieved, United stormed into Arsenal, the dynamic Fletcher and Rooney leading the charge. For all Arsenal's collective excellence, two individual mistakes cost them. Manuel Almunia raced needlessly from his line to impede Rooney, making contact with the striker, gifting him a penalty which he converted nervelessly.
Then Denilson made a silly little foul on Fletcher, Ryan Giggs curled over the free kick and Diaby headed into his own net.
Arsenal will bemoan their fate, and the woodwork that denied Van Persie and the correct offside flag on Gallas that ruled out a Van Persie strike. Yet Dimitar Berbatov and Nani missed horribly, highlighting how over-reliant United are on Rooney. The champions celebrated raucously – particularly when Wenger was evicted.

India showed some gutso with a 3-1 win over Sri Lanka in a crucial ONGC Nehru Cup football round robin game at the Amedkar Stadium on Wednesday.
'It was a very good game and we played extremely well. We dominated all throughout 90 minutes,' Houghton said.
'It was a silly mistake by the boys. Otherwise they played an unblemished game,' he said.
Houghton was all praise for his man of the moment Steven Dias and newcomer Anthony Pereira. Dias, playing on the right half, created nine chances for India and he struck in the 85th minute to complete the tally.
The coach also said that Sunil Chettri's header in the 13th minute, which was ruled off-side, looked legal to him.
'To me it appeared as a genuine goal. It would have given some confidence to the young boy,' he said.
There were some concerns for the coach, though. It was the left-flank that was troubling Houghton. He feels that left-back Mahesh Gawli isn't enjoying his position in the national team.
'Mahesh plays as central defender for his club and it seems that he is not enjoying his role as a left-back. I feel he would have been one of the best defenders in Asia had he played on the right. I have tried to do that but Mahesh only enjoys playing as a stopper. I feel he had the talent to play in Europe but now it is too late for him,' he said.
'We have a good chance of making the final. But everything will depend on tomorrow's match. It could change the equation for us,' he said.
It will be fun to watch India in the finals.

Manchester United vs Arsenal
What do you guys think of this match! Explosive i reckon , been waiting for this and seems to early for the season.
With ManU thrashing Wigan, one less than half a dozen, after a humbling defeat by Burnley, were quick to react and raring to go.
Nothing new for Arsenal, as always, they set up the pace at the start of the season and loose steam in the end. Having ripped Everton away (story) and taming Portsmouth home ( story), they seem to be in an upbeat mood.
Important thing to note is Arsenal have played one match less than ManU.
I feel Arsenal have an edge over ManU, since their super stars left, and seem to be less sharper.
My Prediction ManU 1 - 2 Arsenal.
Whats urs.

Match Highlites
Liverpools defensive mistakes cost them dearly, and Benitez will have to pick up the pieces in time for this Saturday's vital clash with Bolton Wanderers.
"We now know that we have to go to Bolton on Saturday and win. Everything could change if we do that, our confidence will improve. This squad is virtually the same as last season so I believe it is good enough to mount a title challenge."
Anfield was left frustrated as Liverpool wasted the opportunities that came their way, but ultimately they were reduced to running up blind alleys, and out of ideas, in the face of Villa's resilience.
Liverpool (England): An own goal by Brazilian Lucas, Curtis Davies header and Ashley Youngs penalty helped Aston Villa to a surprise 3-1 win over Liverpool, who pulled one back through Fernando Torres, at Anfield, on Monday.
Midfielder Lucas glanced Youngs free kick into his own net 11 minutes before the interval and Davies made it two in added time.
Torres halved the deficit with 18 minutes left but after Steven Gerrard tripped Nigel Reo-Coker , Young made it three from the spot to make it two defeats from their opening three matches for the Reds.
It was also the first time since December 2007, when they were defeated 1-0 by Manchester United , that Liverpool were defeated in the Premier League at Anfield as Rafael Benitezs sides frustrations at home, where they drew seven matches last season, surfaced once again.
I personally feel, Liverpool lack that spark, or may be theres a bigger one in store...lets see some good football soon.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Liverpool
Match highlight to be uploaded soon.
Super start for Tottenham and a tough one for Liverpool
Liverpool looking a bit jittery at the start, did not perform to the expectations, on the other hand Tottenham looked fairly good, and worked like a well oiled machine.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto had fired Spurs into a deserved lead with a stunning 25-yard strike a minute before half-time.
Steven Gerrard smashed Liverpool level from the penalty spot on 56 minutes following a foul on Glen Johnson by Heurelho Gomes.
But Bassong, an £8m signing from Newcastle United, climbed well to nod the winner three minutes later.

Chelsea 2-1 Hull City
Match Highlights
Lackluster performance by a start studded Chelsea, saw them just piping a motivated Hull City. Two goals by Didier Drogba and one by Hunt was all the nets could see.
Expecting more from Chelsea , as they always set the standards high and are the probables for lifting the title this season.

Manu 1-0 Birmingham City
Match Highlites
Rooney helped Manchester United get past Birmingham City with a struggling 1 nil winner. Birmningham did put a inspiring performance , but short to level Manus performance. Manu though not performing to a level as expected, just managed a win. Plenty of chances went begging from both sides, failing to capitalize, whilst the goalkeeper has a busy day at both ends.

Hello, I have come again with the latest Soccer News. As the world knows that the English Premier League (EPL) starting from 15th of August 2009 (Saturday) and it is expected that this time the Premier League should be more exciting than the last season. In this Soccer blog, I will try my best to update you as much as I can. So, do visit my Football blog to get the latest news. I am not only excited with EPL but also upcoming online program Fantasy Football.
Manchester United is the defending champion and they are looking to defend their title. Manchester United is very much hopeful that they are going to win the crown for the fourth straight English Premier League (EPL) title. Unfortunately for the Red Devils because they have already lost their superstar player Cristiano Ronaldo as well as Carlos Tevez before the season. This season Michael Owen and Antonio Valencia will be playing for United team but I still think that that won't be enough for them to clinch the title. I think that Chelsea team has one of the best rosters in the English Premier League (EPL). Some critics are saying that Chelsea team players are getting too old. In the last EPL season, Liverpool team was in the second place. Arsenal team has also been criticized for making a cheap side. They have also lost key player and striker Emmanuel Adebayor. There is one team I have ignored totally is Hull City. World knows that they aren’t so good but their team now have hired American Jozy Altidore on their squad and this will really boost the team to do well. I am really looking forward to see how American Jozy Altidore performs against the best team in EPL 2009. It can easily be noticed that Football Betting is going everywhere. I have also made some of my predictions which will help me to participate on Soccer betting. My prediction is mentioned below:
Here are my 5 favorite teams:
1. Manchester United
2. Chelsea
3. Arsenal
4. Manchester City
5. Liverpool
My some other Predictions are:
FA Cup Winner: Manchester City
Champions League: Real Madrid
Player of the Year: Fernando Torres
