Celtic striker Georgios Samaras insists he has no plans to leave the Scottish side to join Italian side Palermo.

The 25-year-old has long been linked with a move away from Parkhead, but the Greece international is keen to stay with the Hoops to fight for his place in the starting XI.

Samaras told the Scottish Sun: “I am not open for talks with other clubs because I am very happy in Glasgow.

“I have heard some talk, but nothing else.

“No one has spoken to me or my agent.

“To be honest with you, I am not looking to leave Celtic. I have a year to go and I am not looking to leave for Palermo or anyone else for that matter.

“I also believe we can achieve great things next season.

“My focus for now is the World Cup and after that I will return ready for pre-season with Celtic.”
