Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is still in contact with Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.
His deflection to Old Trafford still wrangles with fans, but Wenger insists his former captain still holds the club close to his heart.
The Frenchman said: “He texts me sometimes, We keep in touch. He tells me he still watches Arsenal games.”
The Dutch international striker made 277 appearance and scored 132 goals for Arsenal before joining Manchester United in 2012.

The Ballon d’Or three-man shortlist has been released, with the usual suspects again featuring.
Lionel Messi is in contention for a fourth successive FIFA Ballon d’Or crown after being named on a three-man shortlist alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Andres Iniesta.
Barcelona superstar Messi has enjoyed an incredible year and stands on the brink of another milestone.
His 82 goals in 2012 mean he is just three shy of former West Germany and Bayern Munich striker Gerd Muller’s record of 85, set in 1972.
Ronaldo, who won the award in 2008, provides strong competition after playing a key role as Real Madrid edged arch-rivals Barca in the Primera Division title race.
Spain and Barcelona playmaker Iniesta has had an outstanding year, shining for both club and country.

Reports are out claiming that Theo Walcott refuses to consider new contract talks at Arsenal while he’s no first-choice.
It is said that the 23 year old Gunners attacker is seeking playing guarantees from manager Arsene Wenger.
talkSPORT claim that Walcott, whose current contract expires next summer, would like to resume talks but sees no point while he is unsure of a first-team place.
The England international has so far played a total of 236 games for Arsenal scoring a total of 52 goals along the way.

Reports are out claiming that Premier League club Chelsea will cough up £10 million to sign Brazilian striker Taison Freda.
The Daily Mail reported that Chelsea are interested in signing the Brazilian from Ukrainian club Metalist Kharkiv in January.
It is said that the 24 year old was invited to Stamford Bridge for the draw against Fulham and even that performance has not put him off.
The move has been complicated by work permit issues because Taison has never represented Brazil but Chelsea will make an application under the ‘special talent’ rule in January.
They will pay around £10million for the midfielder.

Reports have emerged tat Arsenal have joined the interest for Juventus striker Alessandro Matri.
Matri attracted an enquiry from Chelsea earlier this month and Turin sources say Arsenal are also keen.
Juve are willing to sell and hope to rake in £7 million for the 28 year-old Italy international.
Matri has so far made a total of 46 appearance for the Italiaan giants in all competition scoring an impressive 20 goals along the way.

Reports are out claiming that Chelsea are stepping up interest in Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
Blues football chief Michael Emenalo is considering alternatives to Atletico Madrid ace Radamel Falcao for the January market as the Colombian indicates a willingness to remain with Atleti until the end of the season.
AS says Chelsea are now turning to Benzema, who has hit a rich seam of goal scoring form.
The Frenchman has insisted he’s happy in Madrid, but knows he can quickly lose his first-choice status to Gonzalo Higuain, who is about to see his contract extended.
With Fernando Torres struggling for form and Danny Sturridge pining for a move to Liverpool, Chelsea are determined to boost their firepower in January, even if Falcao delays plans.

Reports are out claiming that Chelsea are reviving interest in Bayer Leverkusen striker Andre Schurrle.
The Mirror reported that Roman Abramovich sent his top scout to watch the powerful forward in action for Bayer Leverkusen last night as the Stamford Bridge club prepare a new offer.
The 22 year old was a target in the summer when Roberto di Matteo was looking for a strong attacker to replace Didier Drogba in his squad.
And now – with Fernando Torres still lacking competition, cover and help – Schurrle is firmly back on the radar for the fallen Champions League winners.
Chelsea may bid higher than the £22 million they had rejected in the last window as they have funds to invest in the position in the January market.

It has been reported that Barcelona directors are raising fresh doubts over closing a 2013 deal for Santos star Neymar.
While Barca coach Tito Vilanova would welcome the exciting Brazilian next year, Punto Pelota claims that Barca chiefs are more hesitant.
They believe Neymar may be too focused on the 2014 World Cup, which will be hosted by Brazil, to give his all next season and also question where they can fit the winger in Vilanova’s line-up.
There is also talk of Barca going in a new direction for an attacking signing, with Athletic Bilbao centre-forward Fernando Llorente being discussed at board level.

Interesting transfer news are out claiming that AC Milan are drawing up plans to keep Inter Milan contract rebel Wesley Sneijder in the city.
The Dutch international star is set to leave Inter in January after being informed he won’t play for the club again unless he accepts a pay-cut.
Manchester United, Bayern Munich and PSG are monitoring developments closely, however the Rossoneri believe they can see off all rivals for the 28 year old in January.
Tuttosport claim that Sneijder would prefer to remain in Milan and is open to switching to Inter’s great rivals.
Milan’s initial plans are to take Sneijder on a six-month loan with the option to sign him permanently in June for €12 million.

Reports are out claiming that Fenerbahce are making a move for Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh.
The Sun reported that the Morocco international striker has not played a minute of Premier League football this season — and managed just one top-flight start last term.
Turkish Cup holders Fenerbahce are ready to end the 28-year-old’s nightmare with a January transfer bid.
They want the former Bordeaux star to replace Cameroon striker Henri Bienvenu.

LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham is tight lipped on a Premier League return.
The 37-year-old will bring the curtain down on six seasons in Major League Soccer in Saturday’s MLS Cup final against Houston, and clubs are already lining up to sign the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star told Sky Sports News : “I’m lucky because at 37 years old, I’ve been offered some exciting options,”.
“I’ve got quite a few offers on the table.”
But asked if a return to England was on the cards, Beckham was more cautious.
“I’ve always said I think I would struggle to come back and play in England because I’ve played for the biggest club in the world, the biggest club in England, Manchester United, and I couldn’t see myself playing for any other Premiership team.
“But you never know. Like I said, we’ve got some exciting options on the table. I do think we’ll be spending a little more time in England because it’s good for the kids to see their grandparents.
“Over the last six years it’s been difficult not seeing them as much as we’d like and they’d like, but we definitely won’t be leaving LA for good.”

Thomas Vermaelen has declared that he enjoyed being Arsenal captain this season.
The Belgium international centre back insists that his methods are straightforward and admits he has been helped by some of the senior members of the squad.
He told the Official Arsenal Magazine : “A captain should always give 100 per cent for his club on the pitch, that’s the first thing,”.
“He needs to give a good example and be disciplined. But everyone does the role differently – some people talk a lot in the dressing room, some don’t, some talk to individual players and perhaps try to help the youngsters.
“I just try to do as well as I can, setting a good example on the pitch and off it. Robin did a good job last year and it went well, so I aim to continue that.
“I try to be disciplined, to live by the rules, and to make sure the whole team is doing the same. There are a few of us who work together on that, though – Mikel Arteta, Per Mertesacker as well, they’re really good and help me a lot.
“We’re like a small team, making sure everyone is doing the right things and trying to assist them when they need it.”

Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is interested in Everton star Marouane Fellaini.
Before his goal in yesterday’s draw, Wenger admitted his admiration for the Belgian:
“I just think he is a good player. Everton’s offensive game turns around him. He is the target man they look for, and in recent years he is moving further forward.
“When he arrived at Everton he was more defensive. Now he is more forward and it looks like he will finish centre-forward. He uses his body well, but he is not a dirty player. He is an intelligent player.”
And Wenger likes intelligent players. So could Fellaini do a job at Arsenal? Wenger smiled and replied: “Yes”.

It has been revealed that Arsenal are being encouraged to try again for Borussia Dortmund star Mario Gotze.
It is said that the Gunners offered the German champions £32m for the midfielder in the summer of 2011 but the bid was rejected.
Gotze then extended his deal with Dortmund in March, tying him to the club until 2016.
And according to reports from BILD, the new contract includes a buyout clause of £30m – £2m less than the figure Arsenal offered last year.
The clause expires in July and interested clubs are required to submit a written offer by the end of April 2013.

It has been revealed that Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is determined to repay the faith shown in him by manager Arsene Wenger.
The Premier League new boy is starting to get to grips with England’s top flight after a slow start and is determined to become one of Wenger’s key men.
He said: “I have to improve my statistics again and again. I have been patient and worked.
“When you come into a new club, there is a time to adapt. Even Thierry Henry experienced it. If I could achieved just half of what he achieved.”
He added: “I love that city [London], it is eccentric, and so cosmopolitan. There are so many things to do. You can never be bored.”

Reports are out claiming that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is monitoring Wesley Sneijder’s amazing situation at Inter Milan.
The Dutch international playmaker has been warned by Inter management that he won’t play again for the club unless he accepts a pay-cut.
The Daily Express claim that Sneijder, who is feted as one of the world’s best midfielders, was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in 2011, but pledged his future to Inter.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson could be tempted to try again as Sneijder’s future at Inter doesn’t look like being resolved anytime soon.
Coupled with that, United have looked flat in the middle of the park in recent games, and Sneijder could provide an extra dimension to their play.

Reports are out claiming that Manchester City are pushing to land Malaga midfielder Isco.
The People reported that Txiki Begiristain, City’s new director of football, is stepping up his pursuit of 19-year-old Isco in a bid to beat off competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool.
The Spanish U23 star could be cashed in by Malaga in January with finances tight for the Spanish Liga club.

Interesting transfer news are out claiming that Manchester United and Manchester City are going head-to-head for Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil.
The 24 year old appears on his way out of Real after being singled out for harsh criticism by coach Jose Mourinho this season.
The Daily Star says German sources believe City have joined neighbours Manchester United in eyeing his situation at the Bernabeu.
The arrival at Real of Luka Modric from Spurs has put the squeeze on £30million-rated Ozil.
The Germany playmaker was an unused substitute against City at the Etihad Stadium.

Reports are out claiming that Arsene Wenger is keen for Jack Wilshere to pen new contract.
It is said that the Arsenal boss is confident when the time comes, Wilshere – touted as a future club captain – will sign on the dotted line.
“Jack has always been very committed to this club and I hope he will show that. There is only one way to show it and that is to commit your long-term future to the club,” the Arsenal boss said.
The 20 year old England international has so far made a total of 69 appearance in all competition for Arsenal scoring 4 goals along the way.

Reports are out claiming that Manchester United are keeping tabs on Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna.
The Mirror revealed that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is chasing Torino’s Italian international centre half Ogbonna to bolster his leaky defence.
Fergie’s spies have watched the 24-year-old’s last two games in Serie A, with the Premier League leaders looking at potential new faces in central defence because of concerns about their current crop at the position.
Ogbonna, who is of Nigerian descent, has emerged as one of the best defenders in Italy after coming up the hard way with Torino during their time outside the top flight.

Reports are out claiming that Ashley Young is in the bad books at Manchester United.
The Sun reported that United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is set to offload Portugal winger Nani and also losing faith in fellow winger Young.
Nani and Young have failed to set the world alight for United in recent months.
Nani has made just 15 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring two goals.
England international Young, meanwhile, has played five games fewer than Nani and has yet to score.

Reports are out claiming that the future of AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato will be discussed in the next 48 hours.
The 23 year old Brazilian international striker dropped the bombshell last week that he was unhappy with his limited role at Milan this season and warned agent Gilmar Veloz would be seeking talks with club officials.
TMW claims that Veloz will meet with Milan directors either tomorrow or Thursday to discuss the situation, with Premier League clubs monitoring events closely.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger made serious enquiries after Pato during the summer market, while Chelsea and Manchester City have also been linked with the Brazilian.
It was less than 12 months ago that Pato turned down a move to PSG after Milan had accepted an offer from the French mega spenders.

PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has urged Manchester City ace Mario Balotelli to join him in Paris.
Ibrahimovic, who recently scored a stunning overhead kick for Sweden in a friendly against England, was quick to lavish praise on Balotelli.
He said: “Mario has so much talent, at his age he has the potential to be one of the best strikers in the world.
“I think he has matured and I know he would like to play with me again.”

It has been reported that the Chelsea Supporters’ Group has called for an apology from manager Rafael Benitez stemming back from his days as Liverpool boss.
The Spaniard, who took over as caretaker at Stamford Bridge after Roberto Di Matteo was sacked last week, stated that he would never manager Chelsea while criticizing Blues fans during his stint at Anfield in the mid-2000s.
Chairman of the Chelsea Supporters’ Group, Trizia Fiorellino, feels that Benitez needs to at least acknowledge his words to try and mend the rift that has already been made between he and the fans.
“I think (an apology) would help for some fans. Even an acceptance of what was said would be a start,” said Fiorellino.
“He’s said he was trying to defend his club at the time but (then Chelsea boss Jose) Mourinho was the master of that and I don’t think he ever directly ridiculed supporters of another club.
“It’s quite a thing to try to undo but an acceptance could definitely bring some people back on board. I do think he’s a tough sell, though.”

Interesting transfer news are out claiming that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has joined the battle for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
The Sun revealed that Zaha was a Gunners fan as a lad and Wenger hopes that will tempt him to the Emirates instead of Mancini’s Manchester City.
City have made the first moves to sign Zaha, 20, who won a shock call to the national squad for the recent friendly in Sweden.
But Arsenal sources insist Wenger is confident of a January transfer window deal even though Zaha has two years left on his Crystal Palace contract.
Gunners hope an initial bid of just over £10million, plus a variety of achievement-based add-ons, will do the trick.
