Porto fullback Alex Sandro has declared that he is happy in Portugal.
The 21 year old Brazilian international has been linked with Manchester United in recent days after being scouted by their chief talent spotter Martin Ferguson.
However, on holiday at home in Brazil, Sandro insists: “I had a good run of games and gained more confidence. I have done a good job at FC Porto, I like very much the city and the fans.
“At the moment, I only think of Porto.”

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson already regards Robin van Persie among the club’s modern day greats.
The Scotish tactician is delighted with the impact of RvP since his arrival from Arsenal.
“I reckon here at Manchester United we got our Christmas present early – right at the start of the season in fact, when Robin van Persie arrived at Old Trafford,” said the manager in his column for Wednesday’s United Review for the fixture with Newcastle.
“I am reluctant to subscribe to the cult of an individual because I firmly believe that the essence of a successful football team depends on team-work, and neither are we a one-man team, but sometimes there really is a situation where you are lucky enough to find the last piece of the jigsaw.
“We did it when we brought Eric Cantona to Old Trafford where he proved to be the right player at the right club at the right time. He became the catalyst and springboard for our surge to success. It doesn’t have to be signing someone for a record fee; Eric was in fact a snip at a million.
“Cristiano Ronaldo was not a record buy either but he certainly made a difference as he prospered with us to the extent that he came to be regarded by a lot of people as the world’s best player.”

Reports are out claiming that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wants to deal in skipper Steven Gerrard.
There had been doubts over whether Gerrard, at 32, would be offered fresh terms when his existing contract expires in 16 months’ time.
Rodgers though is quick to dispel any possible talk of a Merseyside exit for his skipper.
“He is vital to us, and I recognise that. I know he has 16 months left on his contract, but I would want him to go beyond that for this club and this team,” said Rodgers.
“He has been an inspirational captain for us, he has been a huge figure in the development of this team. We are improving, we are growing, and he has influenced that.
“Absolutely I would want him to stay beyond his current contract and extend it – there is absolutely no question about that.
“What I would say with Steven is he has a real hunger to succeed. He may be 32 years of age, but he’s still got so much left.”

It has been revealed that West Bromwich Albion striker Romelu Lukaku has told Chelsea he wants to stay at the Hawthorns.
The 19 year old Belgium international striker hit the winner against Norwich City on Saturday.
“I want to stay here,” he said.
“So many people have asked me in the last few weeks, ‘Are you staying?’
“I’ve had a lot of contact with Chelsea and I’ve told them I’m happy here. I have a great rapport with the manager. He challenges me mentally. If I don’t play, it’s challenging me to do more. I want to develop. For me, it is a one-year loan. Then it may be another year again because I need to play as much as I can.
“I can learn here. I can improve here. It’s my ambition and the players want me to improve. Jonas Olsson bullies me in training, but I love it. Last year I had Alex, John Terry and David Luiz against me. Now I have Jonas, who I think is one of the best defenders in the league.”

Reports are out claiming that Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez was pleased with Fernando Torres’ performance in their 8-0 thrashing of Aston Villa.
Torres, revitalised under Benitez’s stewardship, opened the scoring with a brilliant header, and the Spaniard now looks a totally different player to the one who had frustrated a trio of Chelsea managers.
“He’s a striker. He needed to score goals. The team is doing well, he’s having more chances, and he has more confidence as a result,” Benitez said.

Reports re out claiming that Newcastle United target Mathieu Debuchy has ruled out leaving Lille next month.
The 27 year old is a January target for Newcastle.
But the French international says: “The sporting situation at the club is not very good right now, but I have no desire to change in January and leave my team.
“It was very difficult last summer, and I do not want to experience that again. I was interested in a change, but I will not leave the club in a bad way.”

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our readers- Twenty Twelve in review

FiestaFootball would like to wish all our readers from across the world a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
2012 was an eventful year in the world of football, starting with legendary striker Thierry Henry sending all of us down memory lane with a goal on his “second debut” for the Gunners against Leeds.
The Chipolopolo of Zambia stunned Africa and the rest of the world by beating mighty Ivory Coast to lift the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
Fabrice Muamba showed that the football world still has a heart despite getting increasingly commercialized.   While he did recover, the lad will unfortunately not be playing professional football in the future.
This was followed by Man City winning the 2011/12 Premiership in stunning fashion with practically the last kick of the campaign against Queens Park Rangers.
Chelsea made it a great year for English football as they created history by beating Bayern Munich on penalties at the Allianz Arena. Interim boss Roberto di Matteo was able to do what Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink, Luis Felipe Scolari, Carlo Ancelotti and Avram Grant before him were not able to do.
However Di Matteo was not to remain in the hot seat for too long as he made way for Rafa Benitez less than six months later.
Spain made it a unique hat trick of trophies as they successfully defended their European title with a thumping 4-0 victory over Italy. Vicente del Bosque’s side were perhaps not as pleasing on the eye as previous Spanish teams, but boy, they certainly were efficient as they strangulated opposition teams with their brand of possession football.
The Premier League looks more closely contested than ever ( keep saying that every season, don’t we!) and the 2012/13 Champions League promises to be a riveting one with the likes of Dortmund and Malaga joining the usual suspects in the Round of 16.
There were plenty of great goals scored during the year. A certain Mr.Ibrahimovic is certain to feature in every highlight reel for 2012, but let’s not forget Mr.Mexes and Mr.Crouch amongst others.
And yes, the small matter of Lionel Messi writing another chapter in the history of the beautiful game with his 91 ( YES NINETY ONE) goal tally for the calendar year.
Here’s hoping 2013 brings another fabulous year of football.
Thanks for your support and any comments regarding improvement of the site, as always, will be warmly welcomed.

Video Robin Van Persie Ashley Williams 2012- Swansea defender slams ball into RVP’s head

This Robin Van Persie Ashley Williams incident ( VIDEO BELOW) during Swansea’s 1-1 draw vs Manchester United on December 23, 2012 had United manager Sir Alex Ferguson accusing the Welsh skipper of “almost killing” the star Dutch forward and calling for a lengthy ban to be imposed.

RVP Ashley Williams Controversy

Van Persie had been fouled on the edge of the Swansea box and earned a free kick. It lead to a mini scuffle that saw referee Oliver yellow card both players.
This is what Ferguson had to say
In the van Persie situation you can clearly see that he could have been killed. The FA has got to look into it regardless of the fact he has been given a yellow card. He should be banned for a long time because that was the most dangerous thing I’ve seen on a football field for many years.
It was absolutely deliberate. The whistle has gone, the game has stopped and he has done that right in front of the referee, he could have killed the lad.
It was a disgraceful act by the player, he should be banned for a long time.
Robin van Persie is lucky to be alive. It was a disgraceful act from their player.
He should be banned by the FA. Robin could have had a broken neck
Williams claimed it was not intentional and his manager Michael Laudrup shrugged off the incident saying that he was sure the two players had shook hands and made up.
