Borussia Dortmund reach the finals of the Champions League for the first time since 1997 as Real Madrid are made to rue wasting several fine chances as they go down 3-4 on aggregate at the Bernabeu

Juergen Klopp’s side looked to be sailing through to Wembley as they preserved their 4-1 first leg lead into the last 10 minutes.
But substitute Karim Benzema brought the tie to life with a close-range finish from a Mesut Ozil cross – and when Sergio Ramos rammed the ball into the roof of the net on 88 minutes a staggering comeback looked distinctly likely.
Real left their goal flurry too late, though, and Dortmund held on 4-3 aggregate to reach their second final.

“When you ask ‘Are you also interested?’ what do you expect me to say?”
Wenger is desperate for a quality holding midfielder.

NEWCASTLE UNITED vs LIVERPOOL 0-6 HIGHLIGHTS 2013 Agger Henderson Daniel Borini goal video

Saturday, April 27, 2013

Liverpool put a controversial week behind them as a Luis Suarez-less XI turned on the style to destroy Newcastle 6-0 at St James’ Park.
Suarez’s 10-game ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic had cast a cloud over Liverpool’s preparations but they exploited what has a horrendous performance from the struggling hosts to suggest that all may not be lost without their star striker.
Daniel Agger headed Liverpool into a third-minute lead before former Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson claimed the first of his two goals when completing a sweeping team move that was characteristic of the visiting side’s swagger on Tyneside.
Daniel Sturridge then profited from a stunning assist from Philippe Coutinho to make it 3-0 after 54 minutes, and the England international soon added another following another lapse of concentration in the home defence.
Fabio Borini netted a fifth less than a minute after making his return from injury and, after Mathieu Debuchy had been dismissed for a second bookable offence, Henderson scored directly from the resulting free-kick.
While Liverpool sit five points behind local rivals Everton in seventh, the damaging defeat leaves Newcastle just five clear of relegation – and both Wigan and Aston Villa have four games remaining to teir five.

Video- Lionel Messi goal vs Athletic Bilbao Barca April 2013

This stunning Lionel Messi goal vs Athletic Bilbao saw the Argentine again show signs of his best after a quiet outing in midweek against Bayern Munich. Messi’s goal vs Athletic Bilbao was Barca’s first goal in their clash against the Basque club on April 27th, 2013.
Video- Messi goal v Bilbao- Athletic 1-1 Barca ( Messi 67′ goal)
The Argentine weaved his way past a crowd of Bilbao defenders before scoring.
And here is Ray Hudson’s reaction to Messi’s superb individual goal while commentating.
“He emasculates them individually, collectively. He literally disperses his atoms on one side of this defender and picks them up on the other”
Bit OTT probably, but people love Ray for that kind of commentary.

ATHLETIC BILBAO vs BARCELONA 2-2 HIGHLIGHTS 2013 Markel Susaeta Messi Sanchez Herrera goal video

Barcelona will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the Primera Division title after a last-minute strike from Ander Herrera saw them held to a draw by Athletic Bilbao.

The visitors were out of sorts for an hour at San Mames and deservedly trailed to Markel Susaeta’s first-half goal, but the introduction of substitute Lionel Messi swung the match as he scored one and teed up another for Alexis Sanchez.
And it looked like the points would go back to Barcelona until Herrera popped up to snatch a point for Bilbao.
Although Barca remain the runaway leaders, this result means they cannot seal the title this weekend irrespective of whether Real Madrid win or lose against city rivals Atletico.

Everton vs Fulham 1-0 Highlights 2013 Steven Pienaar goal video

Steven Pienaar’s early goal was enough for Everton to eke out a 1-0 Premier League win at home to Fulham.

The South African finished a fine team move just after the quarter-hour mark of a first half the home side dominated, although they seemed to tire in a closer second period.
The Toffees stepped up their game in the closing stages, almost grabbed a second but were enied by some good goalkeeping and poor finishing, including a dreadful miss from Marouane Fellaini.
It mattered not in the end as, shorn of Dimitar Berbatov after an injury in the first half, Fulham offered little in the final third. Everton held on for a win that cements their hold on sixth place and puts them three points shy of fourth.
