Man City New Kit 2013-14

Thursday, May 23, 2013

Manchester City have unveiled their first kit as part of a multi year deal with Nike today in New York. The Citizens’ new 2013/14 home kit will be worn later this week in the United States when they take on Europa League champions Chelsea in a friendly. The home shirt contains blue trim which owes its origin to the colour of the socks worn by City as part of one of their earliest kits way back in 1892

It has been reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will not sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Chelsea.

The People claims that Jose Mourinho is expected to seal a deal for a return to Chelsea this week – but Real Madrid president Perez insists Ronaldo will NOT be going with him.
That stance will also frustrate Manchester United, who were hoping to tempt Ronaldo into an Old Trafford return – and had been in talks with their in-coming shirt sponsors General Motors to fund the player’s £55million transfer fee and £10m salary.

AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has declared that he is staying with the club.
The 35 year old Italian goalkeeper was speaking after clinching Champions League qualification with victory over Siena.
“I have renewed for a year, I am very happy to continue my adventure here. Milanello is my home,” said Abbiati.

It has been revealed that Andre Villas-Boas was left frustrated missing out on Champions League qualification.

Despite his troubles, the 35-year-old ended the season with 72 points – more than Spurs have ever accumulated since the Premier League began.
The former Chelsea boss said : “It’s very, very unusual that we didn’t make it,”.
“If you look at past seasons with that number of points you would normally achieve it.
“It’s difficult for me. Obviously we would ideally have achieved that fourth spot, we certainly did enough to deserve it, but we didn’t in the end.”

Reports are out claiming that Manchester City are interested in Real Madrid defender Pepe.

The Daily Mail reported that City boss Manuel Pellegrini has been linked with Real Madrid defender Pepe, 30, but the Spaniards want £20m.
The Portuguese international defender has been out of favour in recent weeks with preferring French 20-year-old Raphael Varane.

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott was proud of the club after clinching fourth place with victory at Newcastle United.

The Gunners saw off Tottenham to grab the final Champions League place.
The England international admitted: “It was so tense. Newcastle showed they shouldn’t be where they are in the league.
“They were fantastic. We had to dig deep.
“We didn’t know the Tottenham score. They did their job.
“We knew it was in our hands and had to do our job. I’d like to say it is a shame but it’s not.”

Reports are out claiming that Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner is interesting Arsenal.
TMW reported that the Gunners are chasing the 29 year old Switzerland international for the summer market.
Juve may cash in on the former Lazio defender as they seek to buy a big name striker in the coming months.

Interesting transfer news are out claiming that Spanish giants Barcelona are threatening Manchester City plans for Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini.

The 59 year old Chilean will leave Malaga at the end of the season, though no deal with City has yet been rubberstamped.
Marca claims that Barca have been testing the water for potential replacements for Tito Vilanova after he confirmed he would be returning to New York this summer for more treatment.
Barca’s first-choice is to continue with Vilanova, but are covering all bases, which includes making contact with Pellegrini’s camp about a potential move for next season.

Reports are out claiming that PSG defender Thiago Silva is considering his future in Paris.

The 28 year old Brazilian international defender is unsettled with Carlo Ancelotti now wanting to leave for Real Madrid.
Sport claims that Thiago Silva wants to follow his coach out of Paris and this has alerted Barcelona.
The former AC Milan defender has made no secret of his ambition to one day play for Barca.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been named Ligue 1′s player of the season.

The PSG striker scored 29 goals, the highest total since Jean-Pierre Papin netted 30 in 1989-90, and beat team mates Thiago Silva and Blaise Matuidi as well as St Etienne’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a vote by Ligue 1 players and coaches.
Bastia midfielder Florian Thauvin was voted the top prospect with St Etienne’s Christophe Galtier and PSG’s Carlo Ancelotti tied for coach of the season.

The Italian Serie A has been concluded with Juventus winning the title with a total points tally of 87.
Napoli finished finished second with 78 points despite scoring more goals than Juventus.
Meanwhile AC Milan finished third and Inter Milan who endured a season to forgot finished ninth and in the process failed to qualify for Europe.

West Brom vs Man United 5-5 2013 Highlights

Sir Alex Ferguson’s final game as Manchester United manager ended in a crazy 5-5 Premier League draw at West Bromwich Albion.

United raced into a 5-2 lead just after the hour mark, but three goals in the last 10 minutes saw Albion snatch a point in a remarkable encounter.
Half-time substitute Romelu Lukaku scored a hat-trick, including the equaliser as Ferguson’s farewell turned into a football farce.
But it was all smiles at the end as Ferguson and the United players, including the retiring Paul Scholes, enjoyed the noisy acclaim of the visiting supporters after full-time.
Ferguson received a guard of honour and warm applause from around the Hawthorns before kick-off.
It was a nice touch in an increasingly tribal game, but the West Bromwich respect appeared to carry over into the game.

Tottenham vs Sunderland 1-0 2013 Highlights Gareth Bale goal Video

Tottenham Hotspur missed out on a Champions League place again despite Gareth Bale’s stunning winner against Sunderland, meaning North London rivals Arsenal finish fourth.

Tottenham vs Sunderland 2013 ( Spurs SAFC VIDEO BELOW)
Final score and result:- Tottenham vs Sunderland 1-0 ( Gareth Bale)
White Hart Lane, London- 19 May, 2013- 16.00 UK- 19/5/13- Sunday
Gareth Bale scores another absolute screamer for Tottenham Hotspur, similar to his great strike against Southampton but it is not enough for the Lilywhites to qualify for the Champions League as Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Newcastle sees AVB’s men having to settle for a Europe League spot

Despite controlling the game from kick off, Andre Villas-Boas’s side could not find a way past a packed Sunderland defence, which was superbly marshalled by goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
Tottenham also had three penalty appeals waved away, two correctly, although one of them should have been a free-kick and not a booking for diving for Gareth Bale, while another was a clear handball by Carlos Cuellar that Andre Marriner somehow missed.
They also hit the woodwork, had efforts cleared off the line and spurned several opportunities as Sunderland somehow clung on.
With time running out Bale hit a long-range thunderbolt to ensure Spurs claimed victory, but Newcastle’s 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal meant the Gunners qualify for the Champions League qualifying round.

Liverpool vs QPR 1-0 2013 Highlights Coutinho goal Video

Liverpool marked an emotional day for retiring legend Jamie Carragher with a comfortable 1-0 win over relegated QPR.

Though the winning goal belonged to Philippe Coutinho, the day of course belonged to the retiring Carragher, who received a hero’s welcome, a hero’s farewell and even managed to provide the moment of the match by smashing a 30-yard second-half drive against the woodwork.
Harry Redknapp’s Londoners were dominated in both shots at goal and possession but despite a subservient performance which summed up their miserable campaign, the back four did a remarkable job to keep the scoreline so slender.
Though Liverpool were locked in to finish seventh before match day 38 and QPR have long been marked for relegation, the retirement of ‘pool legend Carragher meant this dead rubber match was far from meaningless to some.

Manchester City vs Norwich 2-3 2013 Highlights Howson Pilkington Holt Rodwell Goal Video

A Jonny Howson wonder goal secured Norwich City a surprising but deserving 3-2 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Howson ran from inside his own half, skipped past three players, and calmly placed home in the 65th minute for the fifth and ultimately final goal of the match.
It was the third time Norwich went in front in the match – Anthony Pilkington (26′) and Grant Holt (54′) twice gave them the lead but City equalised soon after on both occasions from the unlikely source of Jack Rodwell.

Arsenal held off Tottenham to claim fourth place and Champions League football for next season with a 1-0 win at Newcastle United on the final day of the Premier League campaign.

Final score and result:- Newcastle vs Arsenal 0-1 ( Koscielny)
St.James Park, Newcastle- 19 May, 2013- 16.00 UK- 19/5/13- Sunday
Laurent Koscielny scores the only goal of the game as Arsenal book their spot in the Champions League with a nervy 1-0 win over Newcastle. Theo Walcott hits the post late for the Gunners, who take fourth in the league.

Laurent Koscielny scored the crucial winner with an acrobatic volley after 52 minutes as Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Sunderland thanks to a late strike from Gareth Bale went unrewarded.
The combination of results means Arsenal avoid finishing behind their great rivals for the first time since 1995 and an impressive end to an otherwise difficult campaign means they enter the Champions League at the final qualifying stage next season.

Interesting news are out claiming that Chelsea are ready to sell Fernando Torres this summer.

The Sun reported that the Blues want rid of their record £50m buy even though he has 22 goals this term, his best season at Stamford Bridge.
The Spanish international striker has netted just seven times in the Premier League, the last coming against Aston Villa in December.
And that is why Chelsea hope today’s match against Everton will be his final one. Overall, Torres has 34 goals in 130 appearances since signing from Liverpool in January 2011.
That equals more than £2m a goal when you add his £22m pay to the £50m transfer fee.
Chelsea’s willingness to sell could come as a shock to Torres as he wants to stay.

Reports are out claiming that Barcelona are chasing Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

The Mirror revealed that the Spanish giants have finally resigned themselves to losing SVictor Valdes who has insisted he will not sign a new contract at the Nou Camp.
That has prompted the Catalan giants to decide, after a crunch meeting between coach Tito Vilanova, president Sandro Rosell and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta, to try to lure former Nou Camp starlet Reina ‘home’ in a £10m deal.
Reina is likely to be allowed to leave the Reds, where boss Brendan Rodgers will continue to rebuild the squad in his second summer in charge, as he is on around £110,000-a-week.
Arsenal had been interested in the 30-year-old, but his wages are an issue.
And the fact Reina began his career at Barcelona mean it will be hard to resist a return that has been mooted since the winter window.

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta has confirmed talks with Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

Marotta revealed negotiations were on last night.
“Tevez? In terms of quality and experience, we are not the first to notice him,” said Marotta.
“He wants to make up for lost time, as his years at Manchester City were not the best. We have not made any approach towards the English club.
“It is clear that at this stage of the season agents step forward and I will not rule out a meeting in that sense. We could reach an agreement with them, but then we’d have to strike a deal with his club too.”
