Arsenal are battling AS Roma for Auxerre striker Paul-Georges Ntep.

The 21 year old has been attracting huge interest from across Europe with Premier League sides Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham all monitoring the French Under-21 international.

But Le10Sport claims that Arsenal and Roma are the leading contenders to sign Ntep with Auxerre willing to accept a deal in the region of £8.5m as financial difficulties continue to plague the club.

Chelsea are moving to beat Arsenal to the signature of Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

The Mirror claims that Costa, who was subject of a £20m bid from Liverpool during the summer, is considered by Chelsea as a less expensive alternative to AS Monaco star Radamel Falcao and has impressed Mourinho with a number of commanding performances in the Champions League for Atletico.

Arsenal have been running the rule over Costa, 25, in recent weeks and reports suggest the club sent chief scout Steve Rowley to Spain to watch the Brazilian ace in action during Atletico’s Copa Del Rey match against Sant Andreu.

But according to reports in Italy, Chelsea will attempt to bring Costa to England in the new year and are hopeful of securing a deal by offering Romelu Lukaku in exchange.

Arsene Wenger is disappointed by the sack mentality in the Premier League.

If Malky Mackay loses his job at Cardiff – which seems imminent – Wenger’s 17 years in charge of the Gunners will be a longer spell at his club than the other 19 put together.

The French tactician said: “There is no real secret other than maybe I was given more time than many other managers. On my side I just try to be completely dedicated to my job.

“I think every other manager would do that as well and I believe honestly that apart from my case, technical stability is important for football and for the quality of the managers. To be given time is important first of all when you’re a young manager you need to learn the job.

“Nobody goes in a job at 33,34 years of age and knows the job. If he’s not given the time somebody else comes in and he has the same problem. There are some countries where the instability of managers is chronic.

“After what happens you have no quality anymore because people with quality do not go into jobs where they are sacked every three weeks for ridiculous reasons so it’s very important for the quality of the game that there is a certain stability.”

Interesting transfer news are out claiming that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remains interested in Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

The London Evening Standard revealed that the French international striker remains high on Wenger’s list as he seeks a new striker signing for January.

Arsenal have the funds despite spending £42.4m on Mesut Ozil in the final throes of the last window, though Real will be reluctant to sell without a replacement lined up.

It has been revealed that Aaron Ramsey has explained choosing Arsenal ahead of Manchester United.

It is said that the Premier League champions were also keen on the Gunners star when he was preparing to leave Cardiff City.

“I had options,” he told the Daily Mail.

“Manchester United was one. But Arsenal flew us (Ramsey and his family) to Switzerland privately, to Basle where he was doing commentary for the Euros. We went to his hotel room. He talked us through everything. And he said he wanted to take me straight into the first team.

“I think United wanted to loan me back to Cardiff.

“The manager has always believed in me. When I was injured he gave me a contract. That says it all, really, and I’m glad I’m now paying him back.”

Arsenal icon Martin Keown insists that Arsene Wenger’s men must become more arrogant and discover a killing edge against the top sides.

The Gunners were held to a scoreless draw by Chelsea on Monday night prompting Keown to write in his column for the Daily Mail that the need to give more in the big contests.

“Arsenal rode their luck at times, especially in the first half. They didn’t threaten the Chelsea goal enough,” Keown wrote.

“To be champions, you have to play like champions and Arsenal need to start offering more in the big games with regards to their performance.

“They have to play with more arrogance because a really convincing win over your rivals fills you with confidence and tells the group they can achieve something during the season.”

The draw saw Arsenal go second on the Premier League table, relinquishing top spot to Liverpool, who they trail by virtue of goal difference.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was left to ponder what might have been as his side were held to a 0-0 draw by Chelsea on Monday.

The Gunners had some great chances late in the game through Olivier Giroud and Thomas Vermaelen but were unable to hit the back of the net which prompted Wenger to speak of some slight inefficiency within his ranks.

The Frenchman told Sky Sports : “I think in the final part of the game we should have won it,”.

“It took us a while – they came here to defend well and catch us on the break. You could see at the start of the game we were a bit edgy, and when we took control of the game in the second half we should have won it with the few opportunities we had.

“It was a game of very few chances but the few opportunities we had, we couldn’t take.

“When you cannot win a game, don’t lose it, that’s what we did.”

The Wales international insists there’s greater leadership quality within the squad this season.

The 22 year old told the Daily Mail: “I did an interview with Martin Keown not so long ago and he told me the main difference this season is the fact that he can see more leaders on the pitch. He obviously felt there was room for improvement there and he has noticed that. He can see the players are more demanding of each other on the pitch.”

Interesting transfer news are out claiming that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reviving his bid for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

El Confidencial claims that the Frenchman wants to do a double deal to sign Morata AND Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

The reports suggests Wenger has requested the pair of them as he bids to end his trophy duck.

It is said that Wenger wants Casillas to challenge Wojciech Szczesny for the No.1 shirt, while Morata would arrive on a six-month loan as cover for Olivier Giroud.

It has been reported that Bacary Sagna’s future at Arsenal remains undecided.

Bacary Sagna 5

European giants Napoli, AC Milan and PSG are all showing interest as his contract winds down.

The French international said: “I like everyone at Arsenal and I hope that something good will come from our talks.

“If I can sign a contract as a free agent from January for another team? It’s an option.”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has defended the recent indifferent form of Mesut Ozil.

The Frenchman paid former Real Madrid superstar Ozil the ultimate compliment by claiming that he reminds him of Pires and has no doubt he will be a huge success.

“I believe that he has a personality,” said Wenger.

“He works quite hard. He is adapting to the physical challenges of the Premier League.

“He looks to me like Pires. It took a while for Pires to adapt to the physical side of the game. Once he had adapted he was absolutely amazing. He is a similar type of player.”

It has been reported that Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott retains hope of convincing manager Arsene Wenger his best position is as striker.

The England international is fully fit and ready to boost Arsenal’s title push.

He told the London Evening Standard: “I still believe I am a striker but with the team playing this formation, it is difficult at this moment in time.”

The suspicion about Walcott in that position is that he does not have the physical presence required to play as a lone striker in Wenger’s 4-2-3-1 system but the 24-year-old believes he offers a viable alternative to Giroud’s hold-up play.

“I definitely could play the one up front because of the amount of combination work the midfielders do, I would stretch teams as well,” he said. “Last year I was top goalscorer for Arsenal and top English goalscorer in all competitions so my level is definitely there.”

It has been revealed that Ezequiel Lavezzi cannot deny that he is unsettled at PSG.

The Argentine international star has been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham this week.

Speaking to Le Parisien, Lavezzi said that he was unsure of his future.

“I do not know [what will happen in the future],” said Lavezzi.

“A player never knows exactly all these things. But what I can tell you is that I will do everything to change my situation in Paris because I did not give my best shot and I do not want this to continue.”

Interesting transfer news are out claiming that Barcelona are inviting offers for Alex Song ahead of next month’s market.

The Daily Star claims that Arsenal and Manchester United are on alert with the Spanish champions willing to let the Cameroon international leave the Camp Nou for as little as £10m in the upcoming transfer window.

It is said that both the Gunners and United have been waiting to see if the defensive midfielder would be made available for a transfer and according to reports in Spain the La Liga champions are willing to let him leave the club if they receive a £10m offer.

“I do not know what will happen in the future,” he said.

“But it is true that I spent some fantastic seasons there [at Arsenal].

“We will see what happens, but for now I’m a Barcelona player.”

It has been reported that Barcelona junior Xavi Pleguezuelo is on the brink of joining Arsenal.

Pleguezuelo’s older brother, Julio, left Barca for the Gunners earlier this year.

El Mundo Deportivo reported that Xavi, who is ten years of age, will soon join Julio in London.

Both brothers are represented by Raul Verdu, who also has Barca starlet Tonny Sanabria, another wanted by Arsenal, on his books.

It has been reported that Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has suffered an injury scare during their thrashing at Manchester City.

The French international center back was carried off on a stretcher after suffering a ‘deep laceration to the knee’ and the early prognosis suggests that Arsenal could be without one of their most influential players as they enter the hectic Christmas period.

The 28 year old was involved in a collision with Alvaro Negredo as the two players slid in, with the Spaniard diverting the ball into the goal to hand City a 2-1 lead in the 38th minute.

It has been reported that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry defended Mesut Ozil for not thanking away fans at the end of their thrashing by Manchester City.

The legendary French striker did not see the big deal with the complaints about the former Real Madrid star not walking over to the fans.

The NYRB striker said on Match of the Day on Saturday evening: “I guess he was upset because Arsenal lost but for me that’s not a big deal, he’s been brilliant since he arrived.

“They didn’t play well as a team today, it wasn’t an Ozil thing, it’s nothing.

“You have to give credit to Man City, it was a bad day at the office. Sometimes you have to go into the dressing room, have a shower and go onto the next game.”

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has declared that Edin Dzeko is not for sale.

It is said that Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan have all been linked with a move for the Bosnia-Herzegovina international.

“No, that is not the case [that Dzeko could be sold],” said Pellegrini.

“I put my trust in him before the season and I have just as much trust in him now.”

It has been revealed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hailed the passion of the Emirates crowd this season.

Arsenal’s home fans have been criticised in the past, but they’ve been right behind the players this term.

Wenger told : “There is certainly more support from the stands than this time last year,”.

“It will be a massive advantage because when we have a difficult patch during a game, our fans feel it and support in response.

“Last year it was moaning when we had a weak period. You feel that. Of course it gives the players more belief and more desire.”

Reports are out claiming that Auxerre forward Paul-Georges Ntep is attracting big Premier League interest.

The Daily Mail reported that Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City are all keen on Ntep.

Interesting transfer news are out claiming that Swiss international defender Fabian Schar has sparked a North London transfer battle.

The People reported that Arsenal and Tottenham are going head-to-head for Schar.

The £10million-rated star has impressed in Europe and was comfortable for Basel against Chelsea last week.

Spurs chief Franco Baldini ran the rule over Schar, just days after the White Hart Lane club’s need for a new centre-back was confirmed by their horror show at Manchester City.

It has been reported that Hull City boss Steve Bruce believes tonight’s opponents Arsenal look like champions.

The 52 year old is under no illusions about the challenge that awaits his squad.

“Absolutely they can win the league,” he said of the table-topping Gunners.

“We’re a third of the way through so why can’t they? They’ll be like anybody else, hoping their big players stay fit, but when you look at their squad they’re a match for anybody.

“The problem with Arsenal is how do you set up against them? They’re fluid in their movement and their interplay. They interchange positions…where does Jack Wilshere play? where does Mesut Ozil play?

“There’s a freedom that makes it very, very difficult.

“Mr Wenger, who I’ve got the hugest respect for, has produced another fantastic football team who are going to be there or thereabouts and in (Aaron) Ramsey they’ve got the outstanding player in the Premier League.”

Interesting transfer news are out claiming that Barcelona winger Pedro is fielding interest from England.

It has been revealed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on two-goal Aaron Ramsey after their 3-0 win at Cardiff City.

The French tactician claimed £50million would not be enough to tempt him to sell the Welshman.

Wenger said : “No. We don’t want to sell anybody, we want to keep the team together. I’ve suffered enough for years for having to sell the players.

“Now we are in a stronger position financially.”

Wenger also believes Ramsey can get even better.

“He keeps surprising me,” said the Gunners’ boss.

“He has matured as a player and a person as well. We came here in the FA Cup a few years ago and he had a very difficult game. Now he shows how much he has developed as a person.

“I was a midfielder and I would have loved to have what he has.

“He can defend, attack and score goals. What more do you want? He is also young – another quality that I have lost.

“He can still develop. When you see the improvement in him in the last two years then why should he stop now?

“There’s more to come. If he continues to play like that then he will have a good future with Wales.”

It has been reported that Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay felt Arsenal played like champions for their 3-0 win yesterday.

“They are in the last-16 in Europe as well. It speaks for itself, it’s not rocket science.”

It has been revealed that Theo Walcott envied his Arsenal teammates over their flying season form.

The England international star has only just returned from long-term injury.

Walcott said : “Seeing the way we play football has been pleasant to watch, but any player who is injured wants to go out there and perform,”.

“It is frustrating at times, but you have just got to think about getting back fit as soon as you can, and I am happy to be back now.”

Former Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello says his old club were wrong to sell Mesut Ozil to Arsenal.

It has been revealed that the Russia national team boss was surprised by the decision.

“I don’t know what happened there; I think that he is a very important player and he was for Real Madrid. He’s a world-class player. They made a mistake selling him.”

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has admitted that his side’s 3-0 win at Cardiff as a statement of intent to the Gunners’ Premier League title rivals.

The Spaniard told the club’s website : “Every away game in the Premier League is very tough,”

“Considering they beat Man City here and they drew against Man United, just shows you what a tough place this is.

“For us it’s a big statement to come here and get the points, to score three goals away from home is very important. We got another clean sheet as well so we’re full of confidence.

“I think we looked really solid again, we kept another clean sheet which is very important for us because up front we know we have the ability to score. It’s a great three points – we are delighted.”

Reports are out claiming that Arsenal have reportedly agreed a loan deal with Real Madrid for young striker Alvaro Morata.

The 21-year old, who has been scoring prolifically for Spain’s U21 team, was also a target for Arsenal’s arch rivals Tottenham.

However reports emanating in Spain suggest that he is set for a six-month spell in the red half of north London which will commence in January.

It is said that Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen for the highly-rated Morata to gain some regular first team football next year and with Arsene Wenger in need of some attacking reinforcements to deepen his squad, it appears as though it could be a favourable agreement for all parties involved.

Reports have surfaced claiming that Arsenal have failed with an opening offer for Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato.

According to Lance!, the Premier League side have had a £6.5million offer for the former AC Milan star rejected by Corinthians, who has also attracted Tottenham.

It is believed that the Gunners have attempted to beat Spurs to the Brazilian international’s services in time for the January window.

Tottenham reportedly had a £12.5m bid rebuffed in the summer.

Pato, who joined Corinthians in 2013 has so far made a total of 56 appearance in all competition scoring a total of 17 goals along the way.

It has been reported that West Bromwich Albion midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has confirmed contact with Arsenal.

The Congo international midfielder recently said that he wants to leave the club and claims that Arsenal are interested in signing him.

“I’ve had approaches from Arsenal,” Mulumbu is quoted as saying in The Sun.

“I could leave this winter. This is the right time for me to set my sights higher. I’m ready to join a top-four club.”

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is hoping that they can be three points behind league leaders Arsenal by the New Year.

The Chilean saw his side beat Swansea City 3-0 at home on Sunday to remain six points in arrears of the Gunners.

And despite writing in the matchday programme that he wanted to start 2014 on top, the City boss revised that goal after a seventh straight win at the Etihad Stadium.

“I can answer your question after we finish the two games we are going to play away,” he said.

“I have a lot of trust in this team. We have to play six more Premier League games during December.

“We hope we can do it, it will be very important for us.

“We are six points behind Arsenal, that is too much.

“We will try to cut this, but if Arsenal continue winning it is not easy.

“It will be difficult but if you can’t be top a good target for our team is to be three points behind.”

It has been revealed that Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny hailed his defence after their win at Cardiff City.

The Poland international declared that Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny deserve greater recognition for their form.

“I’ve kept clean sheets but there are other players who deserve more credit than me.

“We’ve conceded one goal in November and if Per and Laurent don’t get nominated for Player of the Month then there is something wrong.

“They’ve been absolutely fantastic. It’s a pleasure playing behind them every week.

“It’s very good to have that cushion at the top of the table. But if we want to win the league we must do our job very professionally to beat teams like Hull.”

Wojciech Szczesny believes that Arsenal perfectly placed for a title tilt.

Recent run of form suggest that Arsene Wenger’s side look well equipped to end their Premier League nightmare.

Szczesny, who kept a fifth clean sheet of the season for victory at Cardiff City, said: “We’re in a position that we’d like to be in for as long as possible. But it really doesn’t matter where we are now.

“It matters where we are in May and if we carry on like we are now, then I’m certain we’ll be top in May.

“We have a lot of work to do and a lot of tough games to win.

“But there’s no point in putting pressure on ourselves. We just want to enjoy every single game.

“We knew that because Man United and Man City had both dropped points here, it would send a very strong message to our rivals if we won.

“I thought we did a very professional job. We did really well for 90 minutes and took every chance we created.”

It has been reported that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists that Mesut Ozil is not yet firing on all cylinders.

For victory over Cardiff City, the German international created the first goal on Saturday with a fine cross from the left and the second with a ball through a tight space from the right.

The former Real Madrid star now has six assists, the most in the Premier League, and Wenger says his £42million man is not even operating at full fitness.

“He is 90 per cent there physically,” Wenger said.

“He still has to gain a little bit physically. You could see every time he has the ball, something can happen.”
