PFA Team of the Year 2015

The PFA Team of the Year 2015 (2014/15 season) has been announced, and it includes six Chelsea players, but doesn’t have place for either Cesc Fabregas or Sergio Aguero. Chelsea medio Fabregas currently leads the assists tally for 2014/15, while Man City’s Aguero is the current top goal scorer for this season, but neither, somewhat surprisingly, find a spot in this XI. The team was officially announced on April 26, 2015.
The list consists of six Chelsea players and one each from Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton
PFA Team of the Season representatives

Meanwhile Chelsea boss quoted
"There should have been more Chelsea players. All of them should have been Chelsea," he said.
"I respect every player in that team and especially everyone that chose because they have the right to choose. Great players are in that team but also eight players are outside that team.
"Just one example is Cesc Fabregas, with the season he is having, the number of assists, the quality of his game. For him not to be there is strange.

Its Arsenal vs Chelsea and not Wenger vs Mourinho

Saturday, April 25, 2015

Arsene Wenger has played down the significance of clashing with Jose Mourinho this weekend

Arsenal host Chelsea in the Premier League’s top-of-the-table meeting at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday but Wenger is playing down the managerial rivalry between he and the Portuguese.

“It is not a confrontation (between managers), it is a confrontation of two teams,” he said.

“Football is down to the fact that the performance on the day will decide the game and the result, so let’s focus on that.”

Mourinho’s Blues beat the Gunners 6-0 in Wenger’s 1,000th game as Arsenal boss last season before the pair confronted each other during Chelsea’s 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in October.

Arsenal are 10 points behind Chelsea but come into the game on the back of excellent form.

Wenger said: “Look, mathematically it will be possible, yes, but Chelsea has their future and the championship in their hands. We can get closer and we have an opportunity to that at home and want to take it.

“They have been very consistent until now. They have lost less than any team. The Premier League rewards consistency. On that front they have been defensively very strong and consistent.”

Cesc Fabregas saga continues as Arsenal hosts Chelsea

Arsenal hero Ray Parlour says Arsene Wenger was right to reject the chance to sign Cesc Fabregas.

Fabregas could have been wearing Arsenal red once again had Wenger taken the option to re-sign his former midfielder last summer.

“The way Fabregas left was not ideal and Wenger might have said, ‘why would I want a player like that who wanted to leave so badly?’ You have to look at the bigger picture,” Parlour told the London Evening Standard.

“He is a quality player but it is also about how they leave the club. If he’d left in a good way, maybe they would have taken him back. Who knows?

“He would have had to have sold Mesut Ozil. You couldn’t have both of them. That was the big decision for Wenger because he knew in his second season, Ozil might improve. Robert Pires was the same. He was poor in the first season but after the second year, he was amazing. By spending £40million on Ozil, he must believe he can be the kind of player he wants him to be so I can see why he went the way he did. If I was in his shoes, I would have done the same thing.”

Meanwhile Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says Cesc Fabregas chose them over a return to Arsenal so to win trophies.

The Spanish international returned to London from Barcelona last year, opting for Stamford Bridge above the Emirates Stadium, where he was Arsene Wenger’s captain.

“I know why he chose Chelsea,” Mourinho said. “I don’t know why he didn’t choose Arsenal. I only know what we promised him and what he promised us.

“I can’t talk about why he left Arsenal, why he didn’t go back. I don’t know if it was his decision or the manager’s decision. We promised him a team built in the style to suit his play.

“Normally good projects go in hand with titles and he was looking for that.”

Arsenal strong contenders for the FA Cup

Monday, April 20, 2015

Villa boss Tim Sherwood expects Arsenal to be firm favourites for the FA Cup final

Villa qualified for the final courtesy of a 2-1 semi-final win over Liverpool on Sunday and Sherwood is now looking ahead to the Gunners clash where his players can again perform freely without pressure.

However, Sherwood indicated that Premier League fixtures now take preference over the decider which takes place on May 30.

“We will be the underdog. The pressure will be on Arsenal,” said Sherwood on the club’s official website.

“They are the holders. They want to win it again.

“We have a lot of hard work now. We put this on the back-burner.

“We need to secure our safety and then come back here and take the game to Arsenal.

“Every time we play we do that. Today was no exception.”

Meanwhile, Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici has apologised for his howler in their FA Cup semifinal defeat to Arsenal.

The Australian inexplicably let a tame Alexis Sanchez shot slip through his grasp in the sixth minute of extra-time and could only watch on as it trickled over the line.

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla offered words of support to Reading rival Adam Federici after reaching the FA Cup final.

Arsenal are into the final after Federici handed them a 2-1 extra-time victory.

“Yes of course, it’s unlucky for him. They played well and defended very strongly. In the second half, we lost control,” said Cazorla.

“It was important for us to be organised and in the second half, we [found it more tough].”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was delighted with goalscorer Alexis Sanchez for their FA Cup semifinal win over Reading.

Reading took Arsenal to extra-time before losing 2-1.

The Frenchman said: “He has made a fantastic contribution this season. He looked to struggle a little bit to get into the game but he has that stubborn resilience and that individual potential that allows him to always create something special.

“He gave that again today.”

Final score and result:- Reading vs Arsenal 1-2 (McCleary/Sanchez*2)
Wembley Stadium, London- 18 April, 2015- 18/4/15- FA Cup Semifinal- Saturday
Arsenal are through to the final of the FA Cup after Alexis Sanchez’s brace sees off Reading at Wembley. It took Arsene Wenger's side 120 minutes to see off a spirited Reading challenge at Wembley after Sanchez gave the holders the lead just before the break in normal time.Arsenal are able to hold on to their one-goal lead and, as a result, have made booked their place in the final of the FA Cup, where they will meet either Liverpool or Aston Villa. Reading will feel extremely hurt at going out of the competition, particularly because of the way in which the all-important second goal was conceded. Nobody will be more disappointed than Federici, whose mistake allowed Sanchez's half-hearted strike to slip between his legs and into the back of the net.
