The Gunners playmaker, who has now played in two Under 21 games for the north London outfit, is closing in on a return to first-team action after 14 months out on the sidelines through injury.
Early indications show that Wilshere is edging closer to match fitness and will be looking to pick up where he left off under manager Arsene Wenger in the Premier League.
He told the club’s official website: “You know what he did in his first full season for Arsenal – he was amazing.
“For me, he can be one of the best midfielders in the world. He has the potential for that.
“I’m really happy he’s coming back now. He’s working on his match fitness and that’s the most important thing. I think in the future he will lift the team.”
