Chelsea vs Aston Villa 2-1 Highlights

Branislav Ivanovic scored the winner for Chelsea in a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa only a minute after he avoided a red card for elbowing Christian Benteke at Stamford Bridge.

The Serbian defender – who was booked for clearly catching the Villa striker’s face in challenging for the ball – headed home Frank Lampard’s free-kick on 73 minutes to give Jose Mourinho a second straight league win after Sunday’s 2-0 success against Hull City Tigers.
John Terry was also fortunate not to avoid conceding a penalty in injury time when the ball clearly came off his hand from a Gabriel Agbonlahor header, but referee Kevin Friend decided to wave play on infuriating the Villa manager Paul Lambert and his players.
Mourinho’s side were made to work for their three points against a robust Villa, who had opened their campaign with a 3-1 win at Arsenal on Saturday.
Chelsea moved ahead when Eden Hazard’s shot was stopped by Brad Guzan only to come off the unfortunate Antonio Luna to nestle in the visiting net on six minutes.
Villa equalised in stoppage time in the first half when Benteke swept home Agbonlahor’s cutback for his third goal of the season via a post, but they were destined to end the night in defeat by a referee who was not their friend.
